Talk to me about a PP D&C

Hey mamas, I'm now 7 weeks PP and had my PP bleeding stop and start with spotting then start again with some new red blood.  I thought it was my period (which I still sort of doubt) but with DS1 I didn't get my period until he was 2 (breastfeeding).

Either way, when I went in for my PP appointment, she set me up for an ultrasound and they found a polyp in my uterus (or just left over tissue) which they believe is the cause of the bleeding.  I'm now on methergine for 4 days (3 times a day) to avoid a D&C if it works to expel the tissue.  If it doesn't work, a D&C is in my future and I'm sort of freaking out.  I don't mean to jump the gun but I know how much I'm going to have to pump for the baby and it's daunting.  It used to take me a week to pump one decent bottle for DS when I used to just get my hair done and gone for 2 hours!

Can't they not put me completely under and just give me a local and if so, how bad would that be?  I'm willing to put up with the pain of the D&C to avoid pumping 24/7 for the procedure. I birthed without meds so I know I can do it - especially when it's for the greater good for my baby.  I have a 4 year old to take care of as well and I know I would be a slave to the pump!

Again, I know this is all jumping the gun in hopes the methergine is doing it's job but I just want to be prepared.  I started thinking I should start pumping now and freezing it, which I just don't feel like doing.

Thanks!

I'm sorry no one responded to you!  It may be too late and you already went through with the D&C, but if not, I want to suggest you post in the Pregnancy Loss forum where there are many women who have had D&C's and could offer you experiences in regards to the pain and possibly about the pumping as well.

Good luck and ((HUGS)) mama!
