Possible match!

We were invited to a disclosure meeting on June 9th for a 4 year old boy and his baby brother. :)

There are a few complicated issues, so this is a hopeful maybe on our part. The baby has an abuse injury and has a shunt in his head because of it. We do know someone who adopted a daughter with the same issue and things have been great. He has been getting early intervention therapy and they don't forsee the need for long term help there, which is positive. If he is progressing, we would be comfortable moving forward, we are ok with mild delays and learning issues. If he has a significant disability we would decline. We have only been told he is delayed, which can mean all kinds of things! The CW scheduled the meeting for so many weeks away so she can coordinate a team of people who have worked with him so we can get as much info as possible about his medical needs.

The older boy is healthy and doing well. :)

Also, this case is more legally risky than the ones our agency usually handles, they haven't terminated services yet so tpr would be a little way off. (Our agency usually helps place kids who have a tpr date that is rapidly approaching, our state doesn't usually tpr until an adoptive home is identified and the kids are placed there.) There is a relative that has expressed interest, but I don't know more than that. That is our biggest concern, we aren't comfortable taking a high risk legally, and if a relative is a better choice that's awesome. The county the boys are from moves fast and decisively, and the judges generally follow the cw recommendation, so I guess we will have to find out the entire story before we know how likely this will be for us.

I am excited about getting to move to another step in the process, and if these boys aren't meant to be part of our family it's good to get to know a cw, we could end up with a placement if she likes us. I would LOVE these boys, I am trying not to get too excited but the age spread is perfect for us. Trying to stay zen. hahahah!

Wow that sounds like an interesting referral but you sound completely prepared to handle it, along with the inherent ups and downs that might go along with it!
