From the time they are down for the night, until they wake up for the day the next morning- how many hours is that? (ignore night wakings, unless they are awake for a significant amount of time, like over an hour). Answer in general, not counting when they are sick or travelling, etc. You can pick more than one if you need to, but if you can, just pick the one closest answer in the poll.

Another question, if you wouldn't mind posting the answer- how much sleep total does your 1.5-2.5 yo get in a 24 hour period?

Hi! My 22 month old typically sleeps 11-12 hours per night (she stirs to nurse 2-3x, but is never really awake for that). She also naps between 1.5-2 hours during the day.  So a max of 14 hours in a 24 hour period.

My 2 year old (just turned 2) sleeps 10-11 hours at night, and 1.5-2 hours during the day, for a total of 11.5-13 hours per day.  At the same age, my first was probably sleeping 14 hours.

ds2 is 22 mos, and recently he sleeps about 8.5 hours at night. If we put him to bed earlier, he wakes up earlier (not hour for hour, though, so an earlier bedtime DOES get him more sleep).

He gets a MAX of 11 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period. It's obviously not enough sleep for him. Why is it so hard to make kids sleep? lol

I'm there with you. DD, who is 28 months old, gets 10-11 at night, and does not nap. So that's it. Honestly she does pretty well overall, so it's hard for me to tell if when she's whiny is due to tiredness or not. She's done this since about 19 months old. My DS was similar-he slept about 8-9 hours at night but DID nap for about 2 hours a day, so it ended up being the same. He was grumpier about it though.

I am deeply envious of those with kids who sleep more than 12 hours a day-I'm not sure either EVER did that once they were older than....oh a month old. My DS was awake for 10 hours straight at 2 weeks old. It was hell.

Ds2 is 2 and sleeps from 9pm until 8am. Sometimes he wakes at 7:30, sometimes 8:30, but usually at 8am.

He naps for only one hour usually. I usually try to get him down for a nap around 1pm. I can push it until 3pm, but then he doesn't go to sleep until 10pm.

I think he'd rather get an hour and a half for a nap, because once he starts nursing after waking he falls back to sleep instantly.

Have you read Sleepless in America? Great book. Library has it.

My DS sleeps from 8-6:30 each night without waking and then takes a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon. My other boys did the same. My daughter cut naps at about 9 months and slept from 4pm-10am and did that for maybe 9 months? It was strange to say the least!

Dd is 16m, sleeps from 930pm-7am. Takes a nap for about 1.5 hr. So 9.5 at night, 11 total.

My 2 yr old sleeps about 10:30 pm to 8:30 am (10 hrs), plus a 2hr nap most days. So around 12 hours total. Still night wakes about 50% of nights.

My ds is 20 months.

He sleeps about 12 hours at night.  Sometimes he is up in the night for 1-3 hours, and doesn't necessarily sleep in that long those mornings.

His nap is generally 1.5-2.5 hours, but sometimes he has a marathon nap of 3-4 hours.

So, I'd say when he's not on an up-3-hours-a-night jag he probably gets 13 hours a day.

My DS is 27 months and sleeps 12 hours each night (8:00 P.M. to 8:00 A.M.) plus a two-hour nap in the afternoon (1:00-3:00 P.M.). So 14 hours total in a 24 hour period.

My 25mth old son sleeps from around 8:30pm to 6:30am, so 10 hours at night.  He also takes a 2 hour nap in the afternoon, so around 12 hours total each day.

Ah, I guess he's not soooo far off of the norm as I thought! He actually slept 10 hours the other night, then a 2.5 hour nap (so 12.5 hours for the day!)

But he made up for that by sleeping 7.5 hours last night, and less than an hour nap today :/  Hopefully it's an early night tonight!
