Relocating to Sunflower, MS. soon! What do I need to know?

As of today, unless something changes, we are moving from very rural Montana, sight unseen, to the Sunflower/Indianola are for my husband to take a job in about a month. I've been able to get a tiny bit of info off of other forums I'm own but still feel completely clueless on what to expect, where to find housing, and where I can find a decent pedi for my little guy. We're used to driving with where we live and being in an urban area before  Montana so I'm not too concerned by distances. I've been told that nicer housing is in Cleveland but more $$ but not sure what that is considered to be.

What do I need to know? What are birthing options like? We're TTC #2 starting this summer. Any one foster/adoptive parents out there or know what the state system is like?

Help!

No responses but thought I would update. I took an overnight trip out there and visited Greenwood, Indianola, Cleveland and the school in Sunflower. I think we're going to like it just fine.

We are looking for housing in Indianola, 2-3 bedrooms would be super, if you of you happen to live in that area or know of someone who does, we could really use some help finding something. We have a real estate agent helping us look but he has said it might be hard to find something before we actually get there and start meeting people.  Found a super cute, perfect house that I would buy if we were in a different situation but still hoping a great rental house will come up!

If anyone is out that way I'd still love to hear from ya.

You'll be in pretty rural area of the state and unfortunately, in the delta medical/health professionals are few and far between. There are midwives if you're wanting a homebirth in Memphis (they were mine :) ) and one in Vicksburg. Depending on where you end up, both are about the same distance. one is just north and the other south. Hope you find something! I'm in Starkville, but love the delta region myself!

Thanks for the info! I have spent a total of 4 days there so it's all new to me. We went from Seattle to extremely rural Montana and now to Mississippi. To me Indianola seems huge after where we lived in MT. I'm so excited not to have to stockpile everything. We officially will move on July 16, I think.

Everyone I talk to knows someone in Starkville, it's kind of funny. We have a week off between Dh's training and when he starts the school year so we're hoping to get to explore the area some. My mom has a friend who has a daughter I went to school with in Birmingham so we'll at least know one person reletively close. I got to meet with some mamas from another forum I'm on while we moved down and it was so nice just to be around people again and see our LO have the opportunity to play with kids his age. I'm really hoping this turns out to be a good. Still kind of hesitant about TTC since we have fertility issues & birthing choices but what will be will be and I guess I'll look into it more once we're settled.
