What can you do for a sinus infection? DD2 and I either have that or the most horrid case of allergies I have ever seen. We're both pretty miserable (me more so), but I really don't want to go to the doctor. I know we'd just get antibiotics and I'd like to try something natural before drugging us both up.

- Try this make-your-own neti pot. To the saline solution, add a tsp of xylitol to help get rid of bad bacteria. Some other sinus un-clogging tips here: Six tips for sinus relief A must: use a humidifier!

Apple cider vinegar (preferably raw) always works for us for sinus infections. I drink a tablespoon or so at a time in cold water. It thins the mucous and makes everything drain. If you have essential oils (thyme is great) to put in your neti pot.
I don't think I can link to my own page, but the website in my sig has a page on sinus infections.

Years ago, after probably 10 courses (seriously) of antibiotics and a failed sinus surgery, I finally figured out that saline irrigation works 10 times better and I haven't used antibiotics since. The neti pot doesn't work as well for me as buying those bulbs that you use to suck the boogers out of babies noses. Instead, I suck up the salt water (I think it is 1/2 tsp salt and a pinch of baking soda per 8 oz warm water..disolved well) into the baby bulb and then tip my head over the sink and do each nostril twice. It seems to get the salt water up there better and flush out the infection faster. I usually continue it for at least 3-4 days after symptoms are gone (two times a day and always at least an hour before bed so things can drain), and once a day during allergy season. Good luck. It is no fun to have a sinus infection!
