DS has been napping like a champ lately...and sleeping like a... well, not like a champ!
Â
He has two naps a day- usually I nap with him in the morning for anywhere from 40 mins to 2 hours. He naps about 2-3 hours after he wakes up, so nap starts between 7:30-9. (He (way too often) wakes up around 5 am- part of our problem.)Then in the afternoon he usually falls asleep in the car on the way home from somewhere around 12:30 or 1. Or if we are home he goes down a little while after lunch around 1.Â
For his afternoon nap I usually put him down in his crib and he sleeps for 1-2 hours.Â
When he naps he often sleeps like a LOG. There is no waking him up! I could parade elephants and rhinos around and he would sleep through it. I hate waking him up because I love having the time to do what I need to do and he is so cheery when he gets up on his own. When he naps like he has been, he is soo much happier than when he doesn't nap as much.Â
Â
Right now it's 2:50 pm and DS fell asleep in the car at 12:45 on the way home from the pool! I've been stomping around trying to get him to get up "naturally", but no dice.Â
Â
Here's the problem- his night time sleep is less than stellar. He is a frequent night waker. He'll go down to sleep pretty easily between 7-8 pm after his bedtime routine. But after that he usually wakes 2-4 times until we come to bed around 10:30. Then he's up a bunch more times after that if he's in his crib or nursing pretty much all night if he's in bed with us. He wakes up and goes back down to sleep though, he's not staying up to play or anything. He wakes up a bit too early for my liking though- if he would sleep till 6 or 6:30 I'd be happy.
Â
So what's the deal with my good napper and crappy sleeper? Do I need to shorten his naps for him to sleep better at night?Â
Why does he sleep so well during the day and not at night?
Never wake a sleeping baby- Really???
Sleep does not seem to be "begetting sleep" for us.
