Sourire, I was all set to do a monitored Clomid cycle according to my RE's recommendation...and then my insurance company totally rained on my parade. I'll speak to the RE tomorrow and then I'll know what she recommends, maybe Clomid without monitoring (and without trigger) or something else. I'm sure I'll be asking you tons of questions if I do Clomid as planned!

Gemmine, I have had that 13dpo bfn debate with myself way too much. On the one hand, I have definitely heard of false negs at 13-14dpo and my RE (reproductive endocrinologist) does not even do a blood test until 16dpo. On the other hand, I think for those who chart/use nfm and are knowledgeable about the sensitivity of the hpt they're using and how to read it, it is unlikely to get a false neg at 14dpo with a ~25 mUI. At 13dpo, though, it really is harder to say. Even with a definite opk/temp shift/cm signs you might have ovulated a day or more later than it appears. Basically I would do the same thing you are, keeping the possibility going but trying not to get too hopeful. I do think the high temp is very promising, if your lp is usually 14 days or less. So is the smiley opk. Thinking of you - fingers crossed!

writinglove, Congratulations!!

Congratulations writinglove! No blank screen this time!!! Have a happy and healthy 9 months!

Gemmine - Yay vegan buddy! I am holding out hope for you too winky.gif I know you've probably read all of the stories about "late" BFP's. I'm not an early tester (I know many women get BFP's as early as 9 days but I know this would not be true for me) so I have no real advice for you other then the positive OPK sounds promising/frustrating! 18 high temps (as long as you are positive of your O) means there is a baby in there!

AFM - Just when I was thinking "It's been a week since someone announced they are pregnant" and "surely I am running out of friends that aren't pregnant" and "I really am the only one that's not", a friend from high school announced she is pg w/ her 2nd and already in her 2nd trimester. Her DD just turned 1yr 2 weeks ago...and that this one came a little sooner than they were hoping. Can some of these ladies please send some of there fertility my way? It seems the ones that are not quite ready yet are always the ones that get pg right away...

Gemmine...   Is it possible your cycle is messed up and your temp spike was ovulation? It's the only other reason I can think of for a positive OPK. But I hope you had a faulty HPT, and the OPK means a BFP!

AAM... Dark and definite positive OPK this morning. I have only BDd twice this cycle, Saturday with Slim (who was visiting from out of state), and last night with Settler. I am hoping to get more BDing in, but not really sure how, it's finals week for me, and for many of my donors as well.

gozal: Thanks so much for your comment. My LP is usually 14-15 days so AF would be due Thursday or Friday. But since I'm flying out Thursday, I'd like to know before I'm thrown in the mix of out-of-town-ness, you know what I mean? But day by day is just how it's going to have to be. Stupid limbo.

Sila: I'm generally not an early tester either. My BFP cycle I tested at 12DPO just because my temp always drops at 11DPO before AF so testing before then is a waste of time. Also, I feel your pain. The number of pregnant women I know is currently in the double digits. Fun times.

Stevi: I thought about that but I ovulated soon after I stopped bleeding from the miscarriage (about 12-13 days after). My hormone levels were back to 0, I had the clear temp dip, 2 days of positive smiley OPKs, followed by a negative OPK and a temp shift on CD 23-25. I kept testing the OPKs until I got a negative to make absolutely sure I wasn't getting false ovulation positives, etc. My chart: www.fertilityfriend.com/home/gemmine84 P.S. What are you studying? You mentioned it's finals week. I hope you can get in one more BD.

I can only think of the following scenarios for this morning's strangeness: 1. Faulty OPK (which is suspicious since my temp went up this morning) 2. False negative HPT (suspicious because I'm 13 DPO with FMU) 3. Maybe an extremely delayed implantation? I've heard that can occur as late as 12DPO and I felt cramping yesterday and my temp dipped significantly the past 2 days. If that's the case then maybe there's not enough hormones yet for a positive HPT? Suspicious because if the OPK is + due to a pregnancy, the HPT should be positive too.

Soooo clearly I have to just pass the hours until I can test again. With lots of sparkly distractions so I don't drive myself crazy. Hopefully I'll be out of limbo before my Thursday morning flight. Sorry for the word vomit guys.

Congrats writinglove! Happy and healthy 9 months to you!

Gemmine: I hope it's a BFP for you tomorrow !

AFM: Still waiting for a +OPK and to O at cd22...

Hello everyone!  I'm new to the site and new to the TWW thing, this is my second TTC cycle.  Please add me to the list!  Through the wonders of charting, I discovered I have a LPD, so I started FertilAid, extra Vitex, and B6.  (Patience isn't my strongest virtue, as soon as I figured out something was wrong I started adding supplements until they worked.)  So far AF is one day late, but for me that only means I'm 8 dpo.  Hope to know soon!

Welcome hokievol! I have added you to the "Waiting to Know" list. I have a very short LP as well and I have tried Vitex, B6, and acupuncture in the past (not all at once though)... they helped a little but not enough. Now I am on my first cycle of Clomid. Best of luck to you!

I'm just butting in to remind Gemmine that a + OPK before a + HPT doesn't mean you aren't pregnant... The OPK just picks it up sooner. =D =D =D

Oh, AND GOOD LUCK!

Thanks, Sourire!  Acupuncture is next if herbals don't work.  My insurance covers infertility treatment, thankfully, but not until we've been trying for a year.  I've been charting since December, but we just started trying last month.  Oh, and here's the link to my charts:  http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/344a28/.  Learning a lot!!!

hokievol - I hope the supplements and acupuncture do the trick for you! My acupuncturist doesn't do all the related TCM herbal stuff, but I've heard that acupuncture is much more effective if you find someone that can give you the related herbs as well. Also you could consider trying soy isoflavones, they work in a similar way to Clomid but you don't need a prescription for them! And if all else fails you don't need to wait a full year to get medical help - neither your insurance company nor the doctors really know how long you have been trying so you can say whatever you want to them (I started making appointments in my 8th cycle because I'm also very impatient, I told them I'd been trying for a year), and if you have a gynecologist that you see anyways (for pap smears or whatever) sometimes they will prescribe Clomid (during the time I have been TTC on this board, I have seen a few ladies with short LPs get pregnant on Clomid) and the medication itself is not that expensive.

I added your chart to the front page... I noticed that you don't have a super obvious temp shift when you ovulate... you may be interested in trying some OPKs to help pinpoint your ovulation date more precisely! You can order OPKs really cheap online from Amazon or other websites.

Anyways I sure hope that you don't need any of my advice and you get pregnant right away!

Gemmine...   I'm studying Special Education, and loving every minute of it!! School is so much more fun than working. LOL

And yeah, your chart sure reads that you ovulated back when you said. I hope that next HPT gives you the big thumbs up!!

Gemmine - Talk about on the edge of my seat!  I think if you got a positive OPK that is a GREAT sign even if the HPT was negative.  Do you know the sensitivity of your HPT?  KUP!!!

AFM, 13dpo today so I would have started my period tomorrow (possibly today).  I have been spotting a tiny amount each day for the past 3 days.  I'm praying that it means nothing!  I haven't had any cramps so that's a good sign, right?

I would like to join this thread, as I have been lurking for quite a while and need some additional support.  I am 40 years old and have been TTC for 18 cycles; I got a BFP in April but on May 2 (6wks 3days) there was not heartbeat on the ultrasound, they did another ultrasound on May 6 (7wks) and there was a heartbeat but it was only 98 and the fetus only was measuring 6 wks.  On May 13 I had another ultrasound (8wks) and there was no heartbeat.  I am currently waiting for my body to realize that our little angle is not viable.  If I do not have a miscarriage by Friday (May 20) morning I will have a D&C to have the sacs removed.  This way I can move on again.  The doctor would like me to wait at least 2 cycles before TTC again which would be sometime in August.  Please add me to waiting to be ready as I can't do anything until our angle is out of my system.  I was taking Clomid when I concieve this angle and was on my 7th cycle taking it.  I do have one wonderful DS who is 2 years old.

Stevi: That's awesome. How long do you have until you finish and get your credentials? Good luck with finals!

MommyM: I'm going to test in the morning and use an OPK and a HPT. I'm glad you aren't cramping. Is the spotting visible in your underwear or just when you wipe? Brown or pink/red? Sorry if TMI. I'm sending sticking vibes to BabyMatsumoto!

remark: Welcome and I am so sorry for your loss. I hope this is over for you soon so you can try again.

I basically have like once or twice a day when there is a tiny bit of pink on the toilet paper when I wipe.  I did take some vitamin B6 today so maybe I should continue to do that and see if it helps.  Since I'm so early still, I haven't even gone to the midwife yet (I'm still trying to hire one!) so I guess if this continues I'll suck it up and go to an OB.  Thanks for the vibes!!  I can't wait to hear about tomorrow.  FX for TWO positives!

Edit to add:  Also, I've taken an HPT every morning since I got my first positive (10 dpo) and they are progressively darker.  This morning's was almost as dark as the control line.  That's got to be good, right?

I took an OPK (smiley face digital) and it was positive (it had been negative in previous days). Took a FRER, it was negative. So now, I don't know what to think or do or how to feel. I haven't heard of anyone getting a false negative this late (I'm 13 DPO today) but my temp rise and positive OPK is certainly...interesting. I don't know.

Interesting, indeed!  Keep us posted!  :)  Fingers crossed for you.

Welcome, and I hope you're not here very long.  ;)

Sorry for you loss.  :(  Welcome to the One thread though, the ladies here are wonderful.  :)

AFM, Still in the 2ww.  My boobs are a little sore, so is my lower back.  I'm constantly hungry, and I think my sense of smell is getting stronger by the day.  So...I broke down and bought 2 digital tests this morning.  I had to get cash to send to school with DD, so that was my excuse.  ;)  While I was at the grocery store at 9 am, standing there looking at pregnancy tests...I got hit on.  WTH??  It was extremely awkward and funny at the same time.  Anyway, I plan on testing tomorrow morning.  :)  Maybe if it's positive we'll name the baby after grocery store dude.  rofl

Gemmine...   I'll have my Associates by the end of Fall 2011. My bachelors will be about 2 years from now, I think; I haven't done the math on it yet.

Remark71...   Welcome! I don't know if you are open to the idea of trying sooner, but I have heard/read that fertility is increased for the first few cycles following a miscarriage. This proved true for me, though sadly I lost that one as well. Hugs!!!

MommyMatsumoto...   I took HPTs everyday with my second pregnancy, and knew something was wrong because they never got very dark. So, YES! I believe the darkening BFPs are a superrific sign!!!

WritingLove...   Congratulations!!

remark71 - Welcome! I'm so sorry to hear about what you are going through. Hopefully you get a pregnancy that sticks soon.

MommyM - personally I don't even consider it spotting if I don't see it on my underwear... it sounds like your pregnancy is doing good so far!
