My kid brag (languages)

Rain just took the placement tests for Russia and French language classes at American, where she'll be headed in the fall. She topped out both tests, meaning she'll be starting with 300 level classes in both. Three years ago she spoke neither language, at all. According to the university, that's equal to 4 high school years of each.

She took French at our local community college and then university her sophomore and senior years of high school (unschooled) and spent her junior year living in Russia on a scholarship. She wants to continue both languages in college and maybe major in one or both.

I think she's amazing.

it doesnt surprise me ONE bit.

she is amazing ABSOLUTELY - has been forever for a kid her age.

but then she has an amazing mom so i expected nothing less. 

i have really enjoyed watching rain grow into her own person. and follow your travails thru these years. 

with her dogged persistance she seems to have a real flair for language (struggling thru spanish i can really appreciate that). wonder if she is going to try others too in future. a different family.
