Camping co-sleeping arrangement

We will be camping quite a bit this summer and I'm wondering how we will sleep. DD is currently 2 months, I think we will do a couple one or two night trips in the next couple of months, and then a two week trip in August, when she will be 5 months. At some of these places the nights will be cold, down to maybe the 40s. I just realized that the sleeping bag is going to be an issue since it is fluffy... My only idea so far is to bundle her up and maybe a loose swaddle so she doesn't need to be under the sleeping bag, but since she is used to being snuggled right up to me I feel like I won't really be able to use a sleeping bag, either.

Would love to hear how others have managed this!

I wouldn't do a sleep bag, but rather blankets. Possible have baby in a fleece swaddle or sleep sack. I would have heavy pj's for myself to limit the amount of covers near you.

We camped with DS1 when he was 8 mths and loved it.  Here's some tips we worked out with our various trips

  • thick foam mattress instead of air (duh)
  • get baby a sleep bag and a hat
  • we put two sleeping bags together, and the whole family slept together.  My half of the sleeping bag stayed around my waist, and I wore a thick button up sweater (undone) to keep my shoulders warm, but still allow DS1 nursing access

I found that I didn't really sleep well, as I kept checking on him throughout the night, but he was always fine.  Hope you enjoy camping!!
