need hair brush rec for me

Thread Starter

Requirements:

easy to clean

lasts for years

My hair:

thick, slightly wavy, shoulder length

have flirted with no poo/ homemade shampoo in past and may again, but for now I use commercial shampoo (and sometimes conditioner) in smaller quantities

Budget = limited, but willing to splurge on something nice that will last so I can stop buying a new one from Target every year

Got recs? TIA

No question.  Mason Pearson.  You'll never regret it.  I got my first at 15 and oh my god.  I'll never use anything else.  I still have the one I got over two decades ago, plus 2 others I've picked up since (one for my purse and another as a back up while the primary one is being cleaned.)

Honestly, I don't think there's a better brush.

I would actually recommend a nice wide toothed comb rather than a brush.  I have only used a comb for the last 10 years and have used the same one the entire time (and a mini one for my purse).  I think I got them at Target?  Not sure, though.  I do have a boar's hair brush, but it isn't meant for detangling or anything, just to smooth the hair follicles.  Most brushes are damaging to hair, especially when wet.  Combs are much more gentle and less likely to break your hair.  :)
