Ground Cherries anyone?
I grow these in my driveway garden, which is a little strip of dirt between the driveway and chainlink fence. They do not ramble, and they do not need staking like a tomato plant.Remind me of small bush bean plants.A few inches apart and they did well for me. I can't find a pic of the plant, but I did post the berries on my page:

I plant mine near tomatillos too, since they always take up more room than I think they will. They grow like tomatillos but don't get nearly as big. At least mine don't. I don't train them up but let them go where they want. The heavy branchs (stalks?) do bend down, hit the ground and then grow little roots. I'm traveling a lot this summer (gone for 8 straight weeks) and only planted things that will be consumed by early July, so ground cherries were out. I'll miss those little berries!
