Okay, this is a little complicated.
I have a neighbor here form LIbya. Her husband is going to school/working at a large local hospital/university. She is pregnant and due late September and they have two daughters. Well Libya has cut them off financially and insurance. They were able to get insurance with her husband's employer. But money is very tight.
I was talking with her today and her SIL (who is also from LIbya) is being sent to live with them at the end of next month. She (SIL) is also pregnant. She is due at the end of August. Her husband is also going to school here in the US (NY). He has to go to another city on the east coast for his education and really can't take her (the SIL) with him because of finances (see the LIbya cutting them off part) and lack of insurance.
My question is can she (the SIL) qualify for WIC or Medicaid or Food Stamps since she is pregnant with her husband being here in an educaiton Visa. What about a hospital/Doctor for delivery if she can't get insurance?
I am asking this on the behalf of my neighbor. Who is terribly worried on how they are going to do this.
I feel so bad for her.
