Why so gassy now that I'm gluten and dairy free?

Sorry if this is a little TMI. I dropped gluten and dairy from my diet nearly 2 weeks ago. I've definitely seen some improvements but one issue I'm having now is a lot of smelly gas. It's constant and nasty, to the point that I'm avoiding going places at times. Aside from a chili and 4-bean salad overdose a few days in, I haven't been eating gassy foods more than before. Could rice flour or any of the other alternative flours cause this? That's the biggest added change in my diet. The only other thing I can think of is that I'm no longer running to the bathroom 4, 5, 6 times in a row at least several times a week and things aren't "clearing out" as readily. Any ideas about why I'm having all this gas? Help, it's embarrassing!

Thats so weird!  I wish I could help.  I just wanted to chime in with Ive been horribly gassy for the last 3 weeks!!  We've been eating almost all vegetarian (without hardly any grains etc.) and I could fart every 5 minutes if I wanted... and it could kill a small animal.  :(  My husband has always been like this, but I am truly shocked with whats escaping from my tush!  So, you are not alone :))  I hope you find the culprit.  I feel like its onions for me :(  which sucks, because its a staple and in every dish I cook!!!

ROTFLMAO.gif Yay, someone who understands, even if she can't explain it for me! Thanks for the empathy and the chuckle, I needed that!

Have you added something in place of the grains?  A lot of times that'll do it.

I've been eating more rice, but not a ton more. Aside from the rice flour that in all my baked good now. Any idea when the gas might ease off? (Please tell me it will get better, lol.)

My vote is on the rice flour. I've been making some cookies recently that use rice flour and potato starch, and they are doing the same thing to me! I've gone through the whole list of ingredients, and can't find anything else that would be doing it.

That must be it, then. I sincerely hope it gets better for all of us! I'm about ready to buy a truckload of Beano, lol. Actually, today it's been somewhat better--hope that's a trend that will keep improving. Glad I'm not alone with this!
