Vitamin E pills

Hi all is there anything harmful about piercing a Vitamin E pill/capsle for dry skin? I remember my mother used to pierce a pill and hten squeeze the contents on my skin. Is it possible to get too much Vitamin E through your skin this way? I don't know any thoughts?

I don't know if it is good or not-so-good, but I have read in books that it is recommended to help a carrier oil last longer. I forget the ratio, but one capsule for a certain number of ounces of carrier oil.

I don't personally feel Vitamin E oil by itself is all that effective as a skin emollient. I prefer it mixed with other oils. Besides, those capsules are probably the most expensive way to use an oil on your skin. I found Vitamin E oil in a bottle at a local discount store (Jason brand and Home Health brand at different times) for a reasonable price and used that to help my mixes last longer.

However, I have subsequently read something not-so-great about Vitamin E oil, but I don't recall what exactly. I already had my vitamin E oil and planned to keep using it until it was nearly gone. At that point, I would research it again before buying anymore. I'm not there, yet.
