My dh works out of town and that was our only shot this month...do you think it's a possiblity to get pregnant if we dtd on cycle day 11? My cycles are usually anywhere from 27-32 days, but have been pretty consistant at 28 the last few months. Just curious to know if anyone has conceived that early on. The 2ww is gonna kill me!! This is my rainbow baby and I'm super excited!

It is totally possible to conceive a baby from sperm that has been sitting inside you for several days. I conceived ds with 5 day old sperm and I've heard a few stories here on MDC of babies conceived with 7 day sperm! So if you DTD on CD 11 and ovulated within the next several days then you certainly have a chance. Usually the sperm need fertile cervical fluid to survive, so if you had egg white or creamy CF those days then your chances increase.Â
Â
But the real question here is when did you ovulate? You conceive the day you ovulate, not the day you DTD. And just b/c you have regular 28 day cycles does not mean that you ovulate on CD 14. Your ovulation day can vary based on what is going on in your life: travel, illness, injury, stress, strenuous exercise, etc. Without charting or the ability to feel ovulation you're sort of in the dark about your ovulation day, luteal phase length, etc. to know when your 2ww begins and how likely it is that the CD 11 sperm survived until that day. Do you have any additional information about your cycle that could help pinpoint O day?
Thanks mama! Very informative! I haven't ever charted...I've just paid attention to cervical mucus and timing in the past to conceive and prevent. I've been successful with just that so far and I'm too lazy to chart...It seems so intense! ;)
I'm on cycle day 14 today and still no sign of fertile CM...so I'm thinking something is weird with my cycle this month. That's ok...I was just hoping on a long shot that it might be able to happen this month. With my dh working out of town it sort of makes things more difficult! :)
Thank you for sharing all that info with me!

If you haven't O'd yet then you could pick up a basal thermometer and temp for the next week and see if you catch a spike. Then at least you'd know when to start counting! It's easy- just take your temp when you wake up and before you get out of bed. Try and keep the time of morning as consistent as possible. You can get a free fertility friend account to log them: www.fertilityfriend.com. Or just wait.
