Washington DC Queer Parenting Meetup!

Hi folks!

So, Escher and I just stumbled upon each other in the DC tribe forum, and were thinking that maybe there are others here who live in the DC metro area?!?

Would anyone like to plan an in-person Queer Parenting get-together? I was thinking we could plan a weekend event of some sort, depending on who is interested.

If you're game, reply and tell us (roughly) where you live, and what days/times might work.

(And for those on the fence, I'll mention that I got my BFP right after attending a mothering/QP get-together in Northampton, Mass, years ago...:)

We live in Takoma, DC on the DC/MD border. Saturdays are usually good days for us, though our weekends seem to be getting booked up fast!

We wanna come visit the DC area sometime this summer/fall. Maybe we can try to be in town that day too!

Yes, definitely! Let us know when you're coming and we can plan a meet-up. DC is great because there's so much to do for free! We love the zoo, and some of the Smithsonian musuems are great for kids too.

And in the meantime, Escher, let's plan a get together!

We just have to pick a weeked and we will let you know! We are very excited about the free stuff to do! I've been to dc twice and loved it both times! Cannot wait to go again and meet up with you guys and anyone else who wants to come!

How does the third weekend in July look for anyone else?
Oops, I guess I meant the fourth weekend. The Saturday of the 23 or thereabouts.

Shoot, we'll be in Idaho for DP's family reunion that weekend. (Cue Mormoms, guns, and camping.) We're not back until late Sunday night, at which point I'll be pouring myself a stiff recovery drink and collapsing on the sofa. (Sorry to be so dramatic. Maybe it will be fine. But they still haven't comes to terms with the gay thing, let alone the trans thing, so I'm feeling a little apprehensive.)

We're actually gone a lot this summer, unfortunatley.

Oops, posted too soon. I also meant to say that we'll be around the second half of August, and aren't going anywhere in September.

we are all over the place all summer, too.  We will be camping on labor day weekend and 2 weekends before.  Maybe the 3rd weekend in September?  After that is October but, well, Escher and I will both be monstrously huge by then (ok, I can't speak for E being monstrous, but surely far along).

Of course, I start maternity leave in November, so we may be traveling more this fall.

Hmm. I don't know yet what my plans are in July. Hopefully I'll know more soon. I plan to be around after the first week of August, so anytime after that works for me. I hope we can find a time that works for all of us!

I hope I'll be monstrously huge in October! That sounds like an interesting experience.

Hey-

I'd love to meet up with you all. My partner and I live in Mt. Rainier, MD. I'm due Aug 10 though so..... I might  or might not be able to meet up with you all depending on when you decide on a date.

Keep me posted.

DW and I live in Richmond and make it up that way a couple of times a year.  My company also has an office in McLean so I make it up that way once a month or so during the week.  It would really be great to get to connect with a few QP in person.  With any luck, I would hopefully be pregnant by the time I got to meet you folks!  FX !

I hope everyone has a good meet-up! We'll be in DC August 3-7, so too early to see you guys.

I'm not sure if people with 2 month old babies socialize but if we're up for it the third weekend in September works for us.

Have you local DC girls gotten together yet? Everyone still up for a meeting the 3rd weekend in Sept? I'm itching to get out of town...again.

Seraf: We haven't gotten together yet, but I'm still hoping we will when you're in town! Third weekend of September sounds great to me. Angela had suggested the zoo a while ago, so we could meet there or somewhere else.

Y'all sure don't have to wait for us, but the zoo sounds great. Anyplace really. We want to see the sights and are happy to meet up anyplace.
