Forest Park: New law prohibiting public breastfeeding?

Have any of you heard about this new thing in Forest Park where you're prohibited from breastfeeding any child age 2 and up in public?

I'm really discouraged that the city would violate state law like this, and that they lumped breastfeeding in with public indecency and nude dancing/adult entertainment is just so wrong on so many levels.

UPDATE: The city council voted on Monday night to change the ordinance. The previous wording included the "under age 2" clause. The current version has no age limit whatsoever.

Thank you to all the courageous moms, dads, and friends who took a stand and told the city council they do not have the right to dictate when a child must be weaned.

Thanks Philomom. I hadn't checked that board yet when I posted here. I figured the local forum would be a good place to mention it, in case not all the local mommies regularly go to the Lactivism board! I hope word gets out, and this is successfully challenged.

Gosh I hate all of these double standards! Breastfeeding is not nudity! Seriously, the age of the child does not determine if it is considered nudity or not...
