Waukegan/Great Lakes/Lake Forest area AP moms?

Hi everyone, 

Long time lurker on Mothering, just moved cross-country and am looking for new friends.

My husband and are are originally from Alaska, have been living in Oregon and now are stationed at Great Lakes Naval base in North Chicago. We're both 25 and not your stereotypical military family: environmental, left-leaning etc. I grew up homeschooled on a boat by hippie parents. DS is 11 weeks, I had him at a birth center in Portland. 

I'm looking for AP-leaning families or groups, on base or in the area (I'm willing to drive a bit), to get to know. I'm also looking for recommendations for places that cater to organic/alternative lifestyles (health food stores, yoga studios etc). I'm sort of at a loss finding places on my own - google maps can only go so far. I don't know anyone in the area and want to get out and make new friends!
