I am two days over my duedate and yesterday my tooth started hurting severely. Didn't sleep at all last night and now my cheek below my eye is doubled in size. I have an emergency appointment today but I'm so worried. I would guess it's an abscess and I will do whatever I need to do for it but I'm worried about how it will affect my baby and myself in labor which is bound to start anytime now. Any thoughts or experience from a situation like this?

Freaking out!

I had a tooth that needed a root canal when I was a week over my due date. I got a referral to a really good specialist and he drilled to see what was up then put a temporary filling on and put me on antibiotics. The antibiotics helped quickly and I was able to get the root canal done after my dd was born and I had recovered. My dd was 2 weeks late and I had to be induced. It had no effect on her at all. I had a friend who had to get a root canal done each time she had a baby also. I think it is one of the "joys" of pregnancy that you don't often read about. Good luck and I hope the pain is gone soon!
