How do you feel about cleanses?

I completed my first cleanse about a month ago. I actually don't care about expelling toxins, etc, but I was anxious to see some quick results from any weight loss that occurred. Like I said, it was my first, it actually taught me more about calorie intake and what calorie range I was comfortable in. It was not effortless, but pretty decent, all considering. I lost 3.5 lbs, and broke my sweet tooth habit (I was on a Shakeology 3 day cleanse, 800-1200 calories per day) so it was certainly not a wasted effort. It did "jumpstart" my diet, and it made my motivation shoot forward.

I have one friend who announced that she made it 25 days on a different type of cleanse, and wanted to make it to 30. But hers sounded so drastic....something about "existing" on lemon juice, cayenne pepper, maple syrup and some other key ingredients. It sounded like starvation to me!

What's your opinion about cleanses?

They're $tupid.

I agree they don't really cleanse, but they are good exactly the way you used it.  Break you of a sweet tooth habit, get you motivated and moving in a direction.  I don't think a few days will harm, but the longer ones potentially will and won't serve you long term.

I did a system cleanse last summer after my first round of my diet.

I bought a kit at the health food store. I'd say it definitely worked because I was pretty much living in the bathroom for a few days. The only other one I've done is a liver cleanse which I do for 1 day periodically but I don't drink stuff or only eat fruit. I just take the supplements!
