Cracked tooth, abcess and root canal

Well, tuesday I went to a holistic dentist to get 3 of my fillings replaced. Had this appt set for 3 weeks then thay call me and say the Dr cannot see me b/c he has an appt at 4pm.  Told them I noticed a bump on my gum last week and really need to be seen.  She calls me back and says he can see me.  SO I go in and he looks at the gum and then says my tooth has a crack.  He shows me.  I was there 3 weeks earlier and he saw nothing and my other conventional dentist did not see it either-went 2 times to him..  Very frustrating b/c I had been having problems w this tooth for 6 months and now I need a root canal and crown but no dentist could see the crack. The tech said the xray looked good but the dr said that they "kind" of see the edge of the root dying but its very hard to see.  He said that I have no choice but the root canal so he is sending me to an endodontist that does laser.  I am in no pain at all and

have been taking echinacea , vit c and a bunch of other things like zinc, milk thistle etc to boost  my immune system.  Plus started collodial silver tonight. Today I was feeling nauseaous and running a low grade temp for a while.  After I eat I feel better. So tonight I started w some raw garlic and sliced some garlic over the abcess. The abcess is very small and does not hurt at all.  The garlic almost reduced it down totally.  So I have an appt on monday to go have the silver filling removed by the holistic dentist and a root canal on tuesday which I would rather not do.  If my xray looks fine and the abcess shrinks will I still need a root canal? Can't they drill out the cavity and do a temp crown to see if it clears up first? The root canal is $2200!  So if I feel nauseous and ill should I try to go in tomorrow for the root canal but the problem is the holistic dentist cant take out the filling for me tomorrow?  I then get exposed to mercury!  I really wanted to try the garlic all weekend and see if it clears things up and that I could avoid the root canal.  Or if I feel ill should I go get the root canal done immediately.  Is this endangering my health?  What really amazes me is that this holistic dentist was just going to send me to have the root canal and let me be exposed to the mercury!!  I had to ask if he could remove the amalgam before. Then I cannot see why he could not remove this one filling for me on tuesday when I was there and he had no time all week to remove my one filling.  I am so frustrated.  I read all kinds of info on garlic and it killing the abcess so I am hoping it works.  Any advice.  Sorry for the long post but I am so frustrated.

This is what I have done so far. Started w Dr Schulze's directions on his blog- applying Formula#2 to gum area and using Echinacea.  Then started aplying raw garlic slices to the abscess  for about 45 min or more and consuming garlic thursday night.  Yesterday continued w the garlic and echinacea and added in some redmonds clay.  Packed the clay w collodial silver.  After an hour I removed and it brought the abcess to the surface -amazing !! Alternated garlic and packing clay on gum thru the day. Left on all night and this morning the gum area has no redness at all.  The abcess is at the surface.  Going to have breakfast and then apply another clay pack.  The tooth feels amazing too after the clay.  I packed it on both sides as advised on a clay site. I'm not sure why I was not feeling well thursday.  Friday I felt normal.  Maybe the stress of it all.   Also doing cell salts as well! Will post back.
