Potty Regression with new Sibling

Thread Starter

My almost 3 year old daughter is having a significant potty regression following the recent birth of baby brother a month ago.  She was fully potty competent and mostly independent, with very rare accidents and good control.  She continues to be fine with pees but is pooping in her pants regularly lately. When I discuss it with her she says she says she didn't know she had to go.  She has no health issues and I am quite sure its a behavioural thing.  She pretty much only does it at home, and the other day in the store asked to poop in the potty.

I would like to know how to appropriately respond.  I am struggling not to lose my patience with her because I am pretty sure she is doing it intentionally.  I hve been giving lots of praise for potty success and we have a reward system of stickers for poops in the potty.

Suggestions and reassurance would be appreciated!  WIll she outgrow it?  In the meantime I am trying not to lose my cool but not always too successfully I'm afraid ;(

I had with with DD2 when DS was born. I just completely backed off, a power struggle was not worth it! It took 6 weeks or so and then she stopped the regression and went back to using the potty.
