Research Article: http://pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.1021/es2007462

Am I the only LIVID over toxic nursing pillows? I own both. There are many ways to produce a natural pillow and  as far as I can see both Boppy and MBF are both toxic. How did I not know this? HOW COULD THEY.

I've called both companies and left messages and you might want to do so to...

I guess I just assumed they were gross/toxic, being what they are made of and being a mainstream product and all.  It is why I try to only buy Organic/WAHM made products when possible.  Less likely to be made of synthetics and coated in chemicals for 'fire safety' or to keep them from getting yucky during shipping to stores country/world wide.  There ARE natural/organic nursing pillow options out there but they are more expensive.

I feel so bad for DS. He got the nasty toxics in the pillow and his bed. At least DD had a natural matress and never used a pillow. =(

I agree with treeoflife3 . I also assume any mainstreem pillow...or other product ... is likely toxic. The pillow and mattress you are sleeping on at night probably is too unless you have gone out of your way to search for an alternative.

The research study did not provide the name of the nursing pillows or the age of the product.

Updated to add that my angry phone calls to Boppy and My Breast Friend were promptly returned.

Boppy didn't reach me but left a message saying that their pillows do not contain flame retardants. No statement about whether they may have in the past.

My Breast Friend no longer contains flame retardants but did as of three years ago. They offered to replace my pillow and took my name and address.
