Trust birth? - Page 7

I thought I'd try to research birth statistics for the first time in 8 years and...wow.  A whole bunch of nothing on the internet!  I find that odd, but this site was an interesting numbers game, anyway.

Of course, I did find a study where the conclusion was that while homebirths result in fewer unnecessary interceptions for the mother and lower c-section rates, the infant mortality rates post-partum were higher.  Finding that odd, I kept looking around and noticed: 1- the study was at least endorsed and being spread around by The League of OBGYNers (or whatever legal name they go by), if not constructed by them and 2- the mortality rates were given for infants up to 28 days post-partum, which means the babies could have died from SIDS for all we know and the deaths may have nothing at all to do with homebirth (or at least not in any significantly statistical way that was worth mentioning for a discussion about the safety of HB vs. hospital birth).

I find it disturbing that in the whole, wide internet, I couldn't find much info on hospital vs. homebirth stats. Disturbing in the conspiracy theorist sorta way.

Anyway...happy birthing and journeying!  I really like what cottonwood had to say up there.

May the woo be with you all!  (All we need is woo!)
