Traveling with a 10-month old

I will be traveling by plane (with lay-overs) from Michigan to San Francisco with my first child who will be 10 months old. I am getting quite anxious, and was wondering if anyone out there has any great tips or advice to make this a smooth vacation! We will be gone for 7 days, any packing advice? Thank you in advance.

I'll be doing this too in a couple of months with the same age baby. I plan to pack very little and to have one bag that goes under the seat that has whatever we need to use during the flight so we don't have to dig around in the overhead. Another mama here,who's also a former flight attendant has a really good blog with a ton of great ideas! She has tops for all kinds of things and different ages of children as well. It's pretty well organized and you don't need to read the whole thing either,just the things that are helpful to you.
