Bed rail on toddler bed?

We have a (unused) crib in our bedroom...DD has never really slept in it other than the odd nap. It converts into a toddler bed and I'm thinking I may as well convert it now and put DD to sleep in it for naps and for the first part of the night. I'm wondering if I need to put a rail on it? I have some bed bumpers that go under the sheet but it seems like they'd take up a lot of space on such a small bed. DD is a major flipper when she sleeps!

I think it would be a good idea to put a bed rail on it.  Just make sure there aren't any gaps between the rail and mattress.  When my DS was your daughter's age, we moved into a different house, and I took that opportunity to give a new bed.  He tossed and turned and moved around like CRAZY so we bought a queen size mattress and just put it on the floor (yes he moved around so much that he needed a queen size mattress!).  The other reason for getting such a large bed for him is because I lay down with him while he goes to sleep.  I actually still sleep with him on his bed through the night, but plan to transition him to sleep there without me one of these days.

Just do what you think your DD would do best with.  If she moves around a lot, I think either putting on a bed rail or putting the mattress on the floor would be a good idea.
