It's official, I'm finally a SAHM

Today is my first Monday as a SAHM (Friday was my last day at work). joy.gif

We had been very lucky that my mom was able to retire early after DS was born so she could be his caregiver when I went back to work.

So, my questions for other SAHM's are, how long does it usually take to settle into a regular routine? Or is that even possible with a VERY active toddler? What does your average day look like?

TIA

Whats a routine? whistling.gif

No, really. Our day varies so much based on other stuff we have to do. But, here are some things that I try really hard not to change:

Wake up 7 am (not my choice, hers)
Cuddle, play, helps me feed dog and cat.
Breakfast time in highchair with music on.
Nursies, 15-20 minute nap around 9:30.
Lunchtime in highchair with music on, usually while Im cleaning the kitchen (I try for lunchtime to be a high energy meal)
Run around and play, or do some physical activity
Two hour nap around 1:30
snack when she wakes
Dinner around 5:30
Bath around 7
Bed around 8

It varies a lot, but I do try to follow this basic schedule, even if we are out and she has to have her naps in the carseat while Im driving. Throughout the day we spend a lot of time outside chasing bubbles, butterflys, the cat, picking grass and clovers, picking up rocks and putting them in piles. I take her on my errands bank, grocery store, ect. We live in small town and I try to make it a learning experience for her to go places. We go inside at the bank. We try to always go to the same lady at the grocery store. We go to the pool, playground, and creek regularly.

Congrats on getting to stay at home! I hope you dont find that its more work than your job was (I did, but I love it.)

Edited because I clicked Submit instead of the more button to see smilies.

No worries winky.gif I thought it was funny cuz that's pretty much how I'm feeling. I know it will be way more work than a "regular" job but I know it"s worth it. Thanks!

joy.gif Congratulations! I will be official June 1 (YAY one week!). I was at home on maternity leave Jan - April then had to return to work part time for 6 weeks. DH got a new job and  we're moving and I'm gonna be a SAHM!!! It's been our goal since I got pregnant with DS 3.5 years ago! I do have a taste of what it's like though because I was home for awhile, and because I only work 3 days a week as of now.

Our routine has changed ( a little ) since DD was born, but when it was just DS & me I guess it was something like this...

Wake up 630, cuddle, take a bath, kiss DH bye.

Cook breakfast together, eat breakfast. 715 - 8ish

Playtime 8ish - 930 (reading, puzzles, blocks, swings or soccer outside)

Quiet time 930-10  usually with milk and/or snack

Adventure (store, park, indoor playground, paint, make a gingerbread house.. something fun!) 10-12

12 make & eat lunch

1230-230 nap

230-3 cuddle & read

3 snack

315 playtime

430 DH comes home and wears DS out with giggly/running/crazy playing

530 cook dinner

6 eat dinner

630 bath

7 book & bed
