The Name Toss - Page 3

we're all settled on a girl's name- after three boys, we've amassed quite a collection of girl names that have grown on us, and we've both had a powerful pull towards one name in particular, but as for a boy's name- shoot- we're totally out of ideas.  we have decided not to expend the effort and attachment towards picking out another boy's name until we find out the gender.

I didn't even really start thinking about names soon (as DH didn't ever want to discuss them w/ DS until we'd had the A/S!). He shocked me a few weeks ago by asking if I'd come up w/ any names. He really likes Jacqueline, and I kind of like it. I love, love, love Joselyn (as it incorporates part of DH's name), but he's pretty against it right now. So far we've not come up w/ boys names. The initials will be J.A. either way (DH's initials). DS has my initials (A.J.) and my middle name (J.), so I think it would awesome if this little one is a girl and can share in DH's name. Now I just have to convince him..haha! We've kind of limited oursevles by the initial thing, and it has to be pretty easy to pronounce in english and spanish! The only boy names in spanish that I really like are Javier, but that's already in the family and Josue (DH dosen't like it). If anybody has some good ideas, I'm open to suggestions.. both girl and boy names!

Lately everyone has asked me if we have thought of an baby names... and really, we haven't.  I think both of us are waiting to determine gender before we get into any serious discussion. Ought to be interesting!

although i have to admit, i have been kind of drawn to the name Everleigh if its a girl lately.  For middle names, I have been thinking about combining my MIL's middle (she has passed on) and my mother's middle (she has stage 4 cancer).  So it would be Everleigh Lynn Ann.

watch me have a boy now and be totally stumped.

I love Everleigh!

Bentlaj, what about Juan for a boy?  So simple, but nice and strong, plus anyone can pronounce it! Also, the great thing about spanish names is that you can hyphenate them for a nice unique name, like Juan-Carlo or Juan-Paolo or something like that.

My DH has been throwing some serious hippy names at me, and I am seriously considering them!  I can't share them until I wrap my mind around them.  This naming another human business is really tough!

I like Everleigh, too! Pretty much anything ending in some form of -lee, (except for Kaylee - too popular!)

DS would have probably been Amelie if he'd been a girl, but I don't think we'll go with that this time.

I also like unique or old fashioned or nature-based names that don't seem too unusual OR too popular, and preferably something with two or more syllables.

Some of my favorites: Girl: Zanna, Robyn, River, Sarah, Julia, Wren; DH really likes some of the Lord of the Rings girls' names

(and Boy: Griffin, Jonas, River, Lake, Leif, Hans)

DH really wanted Adric if we had another boy.

Last time I wrote down some neat pairing for twins: Zanna/Lily (both mean "lily") or Eva/Zoe (both mean "life") for two girls or Nadia/Aidan (palindromes) for a girl/boy pair.

L'lee - I have a Griffin and get compliments on his name all.the.time. His father and sister use nn Finn for him. Actually, his older sister calls him Finny which melts my heart. smile.gif. It's a good name for us.

I just wanted to point out that to anyone who wants to have a naming 'theme' of some kind, if you can't find a name you like that fits, lose the theme. It's better to have a name you love that doesn't match than to have one you don't like as much because it fits.

Thought of another girl's name last night, but neither dh nor I really like it. Hopefully after tomorrow we'll know if we need a girl name or a boy one!

Angela - cool! That's probably my fave out of the boy names. Plus, I think it goes well with DS' name, Emerson. (I get compliments and comments on that too!)

Devaskyla - I totally agree on the theme thing - it is so much more important to like the name (and hopefully have the child like the name, too) than to follow a theme or even have names that go together well. Themes can be helpful for coming up with ideas, but when they start to restrict you it's not a good thing.

Sheepish.gif I know, I know!! It's just that in my immediate family (although it wasn't a theme thing the girls have "A" names and the boys "J" names. So I'm really partial to J's and A's, especially since I married a JA (and that wasn't the reason I married him..haha!). I know it's silly, but I really like the letters... Oh, well, we have our A/S tomorrow. So we may know by then whether we can pick a boy or girl name. That will make it easier. I was always going to name my first son (if I had one) my maiden name (Bentley) until I fell in love w/ a JA (and he didn't really care for the name either). We will consider other names if we can't agree on a JA name. It would be nice if it's name that's not too hard for both sets of grandparents to pronounce though! :)

Hey, if you can come up with something you love, then cool!

We briefly considered naming #2 a name starting with A so that our family could be LACE (with our four first initials). :)

HAHAHA!  I had never thought about that.  Just realized that if I did that with my family, we get PMS...

We were PACO (the dog was the O)...signed everything that way. Then we got the next kid and he threw it off!

Ha ha! I think my sister was the one that started that in our family, they were GEM for a while, now she signs GEMA after their second.

do you like "Jorge?"  i love that name, myself.  and the non-spanish speakers can call him "Georgie" for a nickname, which i think is super cute.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do like that name, but there is already one in the family (as well as Juan). DH and I talk about names at night, but still haven't come up w/ one. :) We've still got time!

We're playing with the following names:

Gideon-sticks with the bible theme

Peter-Also bible-based and it means "rock". DS is called Moses which is water-y...so water and rock. Kinda neat. Also the same English/German aside from spelling(Pieter).

Tobias-The nickname is Tobi which is pronounced the same in English and German.

Samson-Just 'cause he had awesome hair

And for girls:

Flora-Liking flower/plant names

Magnolia

Ivy

Iris

My mom did a "J" them with all her boys.  She has Justin, Jack, Jessie, Jonah and Jayce.

I hadn't heard of a single person with this name and then all of a sudden it's popping up! This has been my husband's choice for a boy name since before he met me. :-P

I have one for you... both DH and I love the name Sunshine for a girl duck.gif

I would never do that to this baby though!
