any tips/tricks for getting a 5 mos old to take a bottle?

not sure what to do now and am hoping you all have some tips for me.

i'm a SAHM but would love to be able to leave the baby for a whole afternoon or evening, or just be able to leave her for a short time and not have to worry that she's hungry (even though she just nursed an hour ago...).

i started to try giving her a bottle at 3 mos, she refused to suck (but loves a paci...), so the milk just pools in her mouth and runs out the side. so after trying a few times i gave up, waited a few weeks, tried again, tried a different bottle (born free and tomee tippee), had dh and friends try, tried while skin to skin, waited some more, tried it daily last week, same situation.  do some babies just refuse to take a bottle?  any tips?

My little guy started taking breastmilk from an open cup (well, more like a shot glass) at 4 months old, so you could try an open cup and see how that goes.

Good luck!

DS refused a bottle from 2 months or so on.  By five months, your DD is going to be totally fine if you nurse her and then leave for two hours.  Have you tried a sippy cup?  If she's just letting it pool in her mouth it probably won't work, but might be worth a try.  If not, my guess is she'll have the hang of it in a month or two and you'll be able to leave for longer periods.  I think around 6 months is when DS figured it out.  He figured out a regular cup right around the same time, maybe earlier even.  You could try that too.  Good luck!
