Mending for re-use

I just saved a favorite skirt with three tiny holes by sewing on some cool appliques to hide the mend. It looks fabulous.joy.gif

Do you have tricks to stretch your clothing budget?

I do know how to patch jeans and sew up frayed towel ends. Any other ideas?

Just yesterday I saw something on patching up holes with reverse applique, I almost can't wait for a hole to try it out.

I have a few things that are very faded but in good condition otherwise and I'm planning to re-dye them.

My DD accidentally ripped a big hole in one of her favorite skirts, while riding on her brother's Skuut. She was very upset until we talked about buying a cool patch. Well, the only patch we could find that would cover the hole was a big yellow flower that came in pack of many smaller flowers in a variety of colors. We ironed them all on. The skirt became even more of a favorite and garnered compliments each time she wore it.
