Sore nipples with my 2 year old!

I really thought nipple soreness was DONE when my girl was 3-months old. But lately she is asking to nurse and then just holding my nipple (Barely!) in her mouth for comfort while watching whatever else is going on in the room. And we're still sleeping together so at night she'll nurse and then want to hold my nipple in her mouth while she sleeps and it hurts!

Maybe hurts isn't the right word, it's just irritating, bothersome. At night I can say, 'no, we're done nursing now it's time to sleep." and then lie on my belly so she can';t reach my breast. But during the day she will just FREAK out. Cry, pull at my shirt and do the sign for nurse over and over. What's going on? Can I do anything? I'm so uncomfortable sometimes I just want to wean but I know that I couldn/t because she would be so upset and I couldn't deal with it.

Hey Mama,

I am SO with you every step of the way. I am also looking to solve this issue. I think our situation worsened when I weaned my child, cold turkey, from his paci a couple weeks ago... That and he is getting his very last tooth in now. Fingers crossed things get better for both of us, but I am not convinced... just hoping!
