Simpleton questions about UC

I'm expecting again and due shortly (4 weeks). I am curious about UC. Can you recommend resources to find out more about it? 

I'm wondering who would stitch me if I were to tear extensively again (actually, I separated my pubic bone last time, but there's nothing to be done about that). And what do you use to clamp the cord? Sorry if these are simple questions, just don't know where to begin. Thanks!

Hi, if I were to tear during a UC here I would either go to my OB/gyn or if she wasn't on call I would simply go to the ER.  I had 4th degree and 3rd degree tears from the TWO episiotomies I was given at my last hospital birth.  So I'll take extra care if I do tear at home that I am transported(with help of dh and whoever else is there to assist) with minimal movement on my part just to make sure I am as gentle as possible to myself:)

If you labor in the water for more than a couple of hours, it will soften your tissues and you wouldn't be as likely to tear. Also, warm perineal compresses with some olive oil during the pushing stage can help as well. How long has it been since your last birth? Have you had enough time to heal and is everything back to "normal"? That can also be a big factor in weather you might tear again. I think the only options you have if you want to be stitched up is to call your regular provider or go to the ER. Tears down there need to be stitched relatively quickly if that is the route you want to go.

Why? Do you mean just the serious tears, or any tears?

Most practitioners will not suture a perineal tear after 6 hours because there is an increased risk of bacterial infection. There are many natural alternatives to sutures unless the tear is a 3rd or 4th degree, as that severe of a situation may involve long term problems with the anus, pelvic floor, pain and issues with intercourse.
