The Prodromal Labor thread... - Page 2

Hiya mamas,

Is indigestion part of early labor?!

This is night number two with it and I've not had this the entire pregnancy. I really hate it and am hoping I don't have a repeat of last night which included stomach cramps and a severe inability to sleep.

Maybe I'm just finally getting to feel truly done.

I am having the digestion issues as well.  I have woken up to BM's so loose the last 3 days I didn't even realize I had to go until I was peeing and it just comes out.  (I know, sorry, TMI).  I have been having more and more increasing DH contraction and occasionally they feel different.  I must be getting close.  I dont dare bother timing them and wont until I cant talk through them.  Which, if anything like last time, by the time I noticed them and they were intense, I didnt have to time them at all because they were so strong and I couldn't walk through them.  Maybe it will be a little slower this time. (slower than 2.5 hours)

I also have so much pressure it feels like a bowling ball is sitting on the inside of my rectum but also in the front as well.  Im ready.  Or at least tomorrow I will be.  My midwife, and my mother are both out of town until tomorrow so I am "not allowed" to go into labor until tomorow, lol.  So far, my body has obeyed.

Very loose stools for several days here, and losing plug. I think it's all a sign that things will be happening soon, but like all these other signs, not necessarily immediately. Which is a little frustrating.

Those are great signs, lady! Right now nothing much is happening with me (38w2d) which is fine but things ARE happening inside of you.

Loose stools and losing plug today here too! I don't want anything to really get going until my Mom gets here tomorrow tho. Been having tightening for weeks now, but not much today.

Good luck ladies!! We are almost there!

Wow, there are quite a few of you that sound like you are getting closer!!  That's so exciting!  I'm having bouts of contractions that are definitely much tighter, but they don't hurt.  No mucous or anything.  However, I did dream last night of wiping and having blood and yelling at dh to call the midwife.  I think that may stem from a bit of anxiety over the fact she told me it would take her at least 2 hours to get to my house once I called her.  Um, my last labor 3 1/2 from start to finish so that makes me a bit nervous.

I'm having a really awesome (not) combination of constipation and loose stools. How does that happen?? I feel like I have to go all the time, and then I try and nothing happens. I'm assuming that the feeling is from his head being so far down in my pelvis. Of course, that also means that I have to pee 800 times a day, but I only pee out a tablespoon at a time. LOL

I've also been getting heartburnish sort of feelings the past couple of days. Normally I never get heartburn or indigestion at all, not during pregnancy or any other time. No mucous either, which is nothing new since that's never happened with any of the other pregnancies either. I'm just SUPER tired lately. Like all I want to do is sleep and the smallest things tire me out. I feel like I can do one big thing a day and that's it. I'm sure watching my sister's 3 kids for a couple of days didn't help that whole tired thing at all. But now that she's back I can officially go into labor because I don't have to worry about what to do with her kids when I'm having a baby. lol

It seems like my ctx are more intense in the evenings. Anyone else notice a pattern with theirs? They get gradually more intense throughout the day, peak in the evening and at bedtime, and then go away during the night. Only to reappear in a mild form in the morning.

joy.gifcan't wait to read a birth story, soon, mamas!

do any of you ever have sharp pain in the pubic bone ? ?

jenni, i hear you on the indigestion (thankfully not the heartburn), and also somewhat of an acid reflux thing going on the last two nights. i tried ginger and mint tea, and that seemed to make things better.

all i can say about my BH is that they are consistent throughout the day and getting more uncomfortable, too. with pain like menstrual cramping. i'm not really paying attention to timing, just that i notice them a lot throughout the day.

i've never noticed losing plug with my previous pregnancies. so i don't know if that will be the case with this one. nothing yet, anyway. well, there was a bit of mucous on the paper today, very much like fertile cm. it was clear, not tinged with blood.

I don't have pain in/on my pubic bone, but I do feel these sharp kind of pokey twingey feelings in my cervix. I can't tell if it's because he's hitting it with his hands, or because my cervix is doing something... like dilating or effacing.

A lot of my ctx feel like deep cramping or back pain. But it's a deeper more muscley cramp than a normal menstrual cramp or BH ctx. It's hard to explain, other than saying it feels really "deep".

reading this thread has me excited! sounds like we'll be getting some babies soon! i've been having the loose stools/diarrhea too (clearing the way for baby?), as well as nausea and being really thirsty. it's like the first trimester all over again. actually, not nearly so bad as the first trimester. i've also been having sharp pains in my cervix and low in my abdomen, i figure they are too sudden and short to be contractions, but something is definitely going on down there! part of me wants another week or two to get stuff done, but another part of me is so ready to hold my long awaited baby in my arms.

Ditto to the indigestion-- two days now....ugh! ctx and cervical pains. Also, a lot of low back aches and pressure down below.

This is such a new game for me! With DD I had zero symptoms until labor/induction day!

I've been following along on this thread and I'm not sure I have prodromal labor but maybe some of you can identify... (I'm 36.1 weeks) the last few days I've felt just like I'm going to start my period, crampy unsettled stomach/intestines, and very loose frequent bm's (like 4x a day). I've checked my cervix, I'm soft and maybe a bit dilated. Any one else have a bout like this?

I even asked dh if there was something funky with dinner last night because I woke up in the middle of the night feeling crampy and had to go, and it was loose. (sorry, tmi).

I went over 40 weeks with both my previous births, but I never felt like this until week 40...

Hi ladies, looks like I am going to be moving over here from the May thread. I was due May 24th, but still hanging around! I know a few of you from that thread as well...

I have been having prodromal labor since 36 weeks. I was 1 cm dilated at my 36 week appt. and then, 1+ at my 37nd week with 50% effacement...Now at 41 weeks I am almost 3 cm dilated and 80% effaced and was having contractions every 10 minutes or so for 24 hours...and then I went and got a stretch and sweep from my midwife (Since I am now 41 weeks) and after that contractions stopped and now there is just an odd twinge here and there. It is so frustrating and although this is my second baby, the first was a scheduled c-section due to size of baby...so I never got to feel labor.

Now here I am trying for my VBAC and really hoping to get it!

Anyway, wanted to share my experience and also introduce myself a bit!

good luck ladies on you labors and I will be sending good vibes out to everyone:D

I have actual contractions that I can feel, but I also have that crampy, unsettled intestines feeling along with them. Since it's been consistently happening for 11 days now, I'm pretty sure it's not something I ate.

Welcome! I'm VBACing too, although I had two natural births before the c/s so I do know what labor feels like. However, each pregnancy and labor is so different! This time around I'm dealing with things that I didn't have before and it's frustrating!

Lol, yeah, I don't think it's something I ate either. I'm going on day three, though it's usually always accompanied by bh's. So this is my fate for 4+ weeks.... guess I'll make the best out of it and use this as relaxation practice for labor. ;)

That's totally a late pregnancy thing for me as well.

Ugh. I keep feeling all this pressure, like I need to have a BM and then I go and sit and nothing happens. It's been happening alllll dayyyyy loooonggggg. And my ctx are still following the same non-pattern pattern. Except that the ctx are longer and more intense than before. I'm about to go find a book and park my hiney on the toilet and just sit there for a couple of hours. LOL

I really wish that this hemorrhoid hadn't just popped up within the last couple of days because it makes sitting on the toilet rather uncomfortable because of all that extra pressure.

However, on a good note, I did check my cervix again earlier and it's lower and more open and more effaced than it was before and baby's head is RIGHT THERE. I could have a baby by the end of the weekend!!

exciting!!!!

I had my first real bout of prodromal labor last night.  The kind that actually got me excited, lol.  Baby dropped down deep into my pelvis yesterday and I could tell immediately because of how much worse all the pressure and SPD became.  Also, I finally lost some of my plug.  Just a tad and nothing red or pink tinged but its a start.  Woke up this morning and had a little more but nothing to get too excited over.  Baby is so low and I am finally feeling like it could be soon.  Yay!

You can check your own cervix?
