No joke. I mean...do I really need Classical Writing, Bravewriter, IEW, WWE, FLL, MCT, Living Memory, Fix-It, and 7 assorted writing books? Do I need Singapore, Saxon, RightStart Math, Math for Smarty Pants, Hands on Equations, MEP, and Math Mammoth?

Can we really do SOTW 2 and American History at the same time? And add in Oak Meadow 4th/5th?

Can we do BFSU, Elemental Science, The Story of Science, Life of Fred Bio, and Astronomy studies?

I think I have a problem here. Please tell me I'm not the only one that needs someone to intervene. redface.gif

Ha.  I haven't started buying yet (DD is K in the fall), but I fear the same thing so I'm trying really really hard to hold back. :)  There's always the resale market. :)

Of course you need all of them. How else will you have the right thickness of book to prop up a wiggly table leg or boost a small child for dinner?

Um....maybe you can think of them as "research material"? lol.gif

Just trying to get my head around the math here - how much did you spend? If you're wanting to get rid of some, perhaps I could help you out smile.gif especially for history.

Perfectly reasonable.  Assuming of course that you have 7 kids who each need different approaches.

Heh... after typing this I checked your sig and you do have 5.  So it's actually not TOO bad.

And really, I mean, if you have a complete set of every one of those programs, then yeah maybe it's a problem lol.... But if you have like a level or 2 of each and you mix and match and use for different kids, then how is it any different than having a full set of just one or 2 programs??

I have a TON of different curricula which I've accumulated over the years with DS, but most of it isn't "too much" because it was all what he needed at the time.

Or, I supposed, if you have, say, grade 1 level of all those different curricula... heh, then yeah maybe it's a problem.

Or not.  Because then, if you try one thing and it doesn't work, you don't have to wait while your replacement plan comes in the mail, you've already got it ready!  ;)

lol.gif I forgot to add that I have CLE math-two levels. Yeah, I'm trying to part with some of it. Sigh. I'll list some of it later.

And they are all on about the same level. Mostly for my older kids. The RS math is for my 6 yo. innocent.gif

Thanks for making me feel better!

I have curriculum envy. I've saved up $15 so far.

It's gonna be a long summer.

Sounds about right. thumb.gif I have let go of lots of stuff, we have mega amounts of books and lots of science materials. I have made myself a place for everything and am not buying more unless I get rid of something. It is hard to let go of good curriculum.

You wouldn't be envious if you saw my bank account!!!

It is so hard. We are isolated, so I buy about everything used online so I can try it out and read it to see if it will work. My kids have such different interests and learning styles I can see them all working at different stages. That makes it so hard to sell them!

Yes, you need it all. :)

well, at least i know i'm not alone :o)  i cant even admit how much i've spent, but it is crazy.  and i have bought some stuff that i wont need for several years.  i'm running out of space in my home.  they all seem good to me, lol, and i want to make sure i get to try them all.  when i try to limit myself, i always wonder if the other options are better.  oh, did i mention that my oldest is only in kindergarten?  :o)

Hi, my name is Spruce and I'm a Curriculaholic.

(*hi, Spruce")

:)

I've been homeschooling for 13 years (my 18yo just graduated!!!), so you can imagine the amount of buildup.  Plus, I live in a state where we get an allotment as homeschoolers for every child...*visions of more curricula dance through my head*....

My testimony for today is that it does all come in handy, at some point.  Even if you just flip open one book to check an different way to work a problem in another book (we did this with the Right Start Math vs. OTHER math issues).  Plus, having a variety lets the kids explore, and gives you grandiose dreams of how much you're going to learn tomorrow when you GET DOWN TO IT...or is that just me?  :p

Enjoy your abundance!

love, p

I have a friend with every curriculum possible.  It is great for the rest of us because we can borrow something to try it out before we buy it!  Maybe you could start a side business renting out your extras...the netflix of homeschooling!  Ha!

I fear I am headed in the same direction!! I already have a big tote filled with curriculum (pre-k, k) and yesterday I bought a "Getting ready for 1st grade" kit from Craigslist- but look at my siggy- none of my kids are over 21 months old! LOL

Oh and also I have bought several of the digital homeschooling kits from the big HSing blogs and such because they are just SO darn cute!!!! Clearly this could have waited a year, or two, or three!!
