A friend of mine runs a business of birth professionals called Natural Lullabies in Tulsa OK. You can look it up on the internet. She also has a page on facebook. They are hosting a free open house for expecting familes in the area. The goal is to educate local families on their options for childbirth - doulas, midwives, lactation consultants, prenatal yoga intructors, etc. I think it will be fantastic! There is an event page for it on facebook if you'd like more information.
Anyway, I am working on a project for the event that will hopefully impact and encourage soon-to-be moms wanting to breastfeed. It will consist of a display of real-life pictures of moms nursing their babies and hopefully some breastfeeding supplies like nipple cream, pillows, etc. My goal is to give women an idea of what breastfeeding actually looks like in our day to day life - think of how powerful that could be for someone hoping to be successful at breastfeeding!! So many women, including me, had no idea what breastfeeding looked like beforehand. Nursing a baby is often very foreign and our goal is to make it less so.
If you want to help, please send me your breastfeeding shots. All types of nursing pics are welcome - uncovered, newborns, toddlers, tandem, NIP, at home, etc. The more candid the better. I don't know about you, but this will be an exercise in transparency for me. Some of my bf'ing shots are less than flattering!
This is not for any kind of profit. If you want credit for your pics or if you want your name or baby's name on display let me know, otherwise I'll keep it anonymous.
I'm relatively new to Mothering, so I'm not sure how the messaging works here. If you can send me the pictures directly on here, great! If not just PM me and I'll send you my email. I guess you could also reply to the thread and attach them.
Thank you so much for your help. I know it may be a bit weird to send your breastfeeding pics to a complete stranger, but I promise I will treat your pictures with the respect they deserve. If you have any questions, feel free to message me! I plan to take pictures of the display and I'll make sure to post them.
Thanks again mamas!
