Money for old computer equipment?

i have some old computer equipment that I would love to pass along/ unload, yay for decluttering; does anyone know of a company or program that will pay money for computers/old laptops?

No. Unless you have the skills to test the components they are unreliable as used equipment. You could try for a private sale on Craigslist, but don't expect much.

 

When the computers and stray bits pile up around here I put an ad in Craigslist offering "FREE misc used computers and parts" and get hobbyists who rebuild them and give them away.

 

Also, there are a few charities that will take them and have them re-furbished (with parts from other old computers).  STRUTS is one.

I have heard that Best Buy does, or maybe has offered gift cards in exchange for old computers.

Try money4computers.com they will offer you money for your PC/laptop, you can either drop it off, or if you request it, they will collect it.  Give it a go.

In about a dozen cities, there is FreeGeek. They don't pay you for anything but they do ensure that the equipment is dealt with properly so hazardous waste doesn't end up in landfills. This is the best source I could quickly find with the different locations.
