Please Share Your Experience: When Were Subsequent Babies Born Compared to Your First?

I know this question gets asked every so often but the existing threads don't seem to have enough of the information that I'm looking for. 

I just found out that I have another week of vacation time that I would absolutely *love* to use before the baby arrives by scheduling it for the week before the edd.  Obviously when waiting for labor to spontaneously begin it's impossible to predict exactly when that will be, but I'm wondering what my odd are of having DS2 at 40w or less are.  It seems like gestation time for 2nd, 3rd, 4th + children varies greatly but hopefully I can gain some sense of direction from your input.  I don't mind using some of the time before baby rather than after baby, but if there's a decent likelyhood of going to 41+ weeks...then I may as well just save it.  TIA

My DS1 was born at 39w 0d.  I was charting, so my dating is accurate.

my second came 4 days earlier than my first. they were both late, though, in the 42 week range.

My first came at 38 weeks. My second came at 40w1d. My last came at 39 weeks. So anything is possible! goodluck!

3&4 (twins) 42 weeks

I'm not sure you can really plan for anything.

As an L&D nurse, I wish there was a way of predicting, I really do.

It's hard to know for sure...but mine have all come within one week of each other due date wise.
Mine were:
1- 39w 4d
2- 40w
3- 39w 6d
4- 41w 2d

All natural labors...no inductions

Thanks for the responses so far.  At this point I'm leaning towards just taking the time, but I still like to read everyone's experiences.

So now I'm curious if #4 will follow the trend of gestating longer each time!

Both the day before their due dates.  Conception dates were rock solid both times.

Take the time a couple weeks early and use it to nest. That'll give you a bit of time with everything set up and ready to go where you can suddenly realize that you forgot things while there's still plenty of time to get them/arrange things differently, what have you.

Also, working up to the start of labor sounds a lot better than sitting around waiting for labor to start. If you go into it planning to head back to work for a week or two, you'll get more out of your vacation time.

I thought for sure my second would arrive earlier than that, oh well you never know.

I was still nursing my first and ended up needing an ultrasound for dating when I got pregnant with #2.  We'll see what happens this time:)
