Please recommend a high-back booster

Hi everyone,

My little brother is soon to outgrow his Maestro 5-point harness by height. He just turned 5 and I was looking at different carseats for my mom. I know the graco turbobooster is often recommended. My little brother is rather skinny and I was wondering about how that particular booster fits tall and skinny children. Also are there cheaper options you would recommend.

Also, are there recommendations or guidelines for switching from high back booster to backless?

Thank-you so much

The Turbobooster is awesome. It's a great price, for a very well-made seat. If you get the one with the back, it converts later on to a backless. It's comfortable, and comes in a variety of styles, which makes it appealing to kids. And I can say with confidence that tall, skinny kids fit great in it. My six year old wears size 8 clothes, by height, and size 5, by weight-- she's the original string bean-- and she fit well in it beginning at about age 4 1/2, and still has plenty of room before she outgrows the back, whereupon we still will get a few years out of it as a backless booster. I highly recommend it.

The recommendation with the back, I THINK (I'm no expert) is that the back makes it a bit safer, largely because of how it helps with proper positioning, and that the safest practice is to use the back until the LO has outgrown it based on the manual's recommendations. (Experts-- you will of course correct me if I'm mistaken.)
