I was getting up 4 or 5 times a night (about every 2 hours), but the last few nights I've been getting up about 8 times (every hour). This seems excessive, but this is my first baby, so I don't know. I've been drinking cranberry juice and taking cranberry tablets to prevent UTI's. I don't drink anything at night either. Is this normal?
How many times a night do you get up to go to the bathroom?
It's practice for the first few weeks of newborn. I know everyone says it, but they say it because it's true. Hang in there! And nap when you can!!
0-1 on nights that I have to get up to work in the morning (I get up at 4 a.m. so not much time is spent actually in bed).
1-2 on nights that I don't have to be up early.
I'm SO happy that tonight is a "1-2" kind of night! Sorry that some of you get up so often. I'm sure my trips will increase, but 10 times a night? That is rough.
1-3 depending on how much water I drink before bed. It's hard not to drink too much before sleeping because the afternoons/eves are the warmest here so I get more thirsty. But I've somewhat mastered sleepwalking, I think. I used to be up much longer after going to the bathroom, now I barely remember getting up and seem to fall asleep relatively quick again. Still tossing and turning like crazy but actually sorta getting used to it! (And I just got a fan, so sleeping much better anyway!!!)
I try not to drink too much at night but I get very thirsty. Plus, I have to sleep with my mouth open because my nose is so stuffed up. I wake up with a very dry mouth. I take just a tiny sip of water to wet my mouth so I wouldn't think that would contribute to how often I have to get up to pee but maybe it does.
I have that problem too, but instead of drinking at night, I just use mouthwash (Biotene for dry mouth) when I go to the bathroom so that I don't have to drink anything else.
Yes! One thing I remember from last time is that I was so amazed at how big my bladder was and how much it could hold as soon as I gave birth!
LOL! So with DS we took the hospital birth class and the instructor showed us a diagram of not-pregnant vs. pregnant internal organs. Without fail, someone always referred to the bladder as "the poor little bladder" when she was having us ID where the organs were in a full-term belly (she said that happened in every class). It was so teeny and squashed you just felt sad for it. ;-) That moment has always stayed in my mind...esp as I rush to the bathroom to pee a tablespoon or so. :P
And...only once last night! YAY!!! Well, maybe twice, but the 2nd time was after 5:am, so hardly counts. I always pee then. After a couple of bad nights, I tend to have a good night or two. Helps keep me sane.
