Contraindicated Medication: only at night with a night weaned toddler?

I'm almost 14 weeks pg and my m/s is impairing my ability to function and parent.  I don't anticipate it going away anytime soon as it lingered with my previous 2 pregnancies well into 30 weeks.  I was on medication then, but with this pregnancy I haven't been able to take anything b/c I'm still nursing my nearly 17 month old.  I've tried all the typical remedies including acupuncture twice a week.  I've had better days here and there, but mostly I'm on the couch and useless.

So my question is, can I safely take a contraindicated medication (doxylamine) before bed since ds is night weaned?  Would the medication leave my breastmilk by morning or would it still be in the first of the morning milk?  I'm not storing much milk these days due to the pregnancy- I can tell b/c my breasts have significantly decreased in size.  I read in Adventures in Tandem Nursing that the high progesterone levels in pregnancy prevent the ducts from storing milk.  I'm also producing less milk and tend to run out by the afternoon/early evening.

So what do you all think?  Thanks in advance!!

Yes, good advice.

Dr Hale lists the half life of doxylamine as 10.1 hours, suggesting that there may well still be some in breastmilk come morning.  However, the InfantRisk Center will be able to consider all the variables including age and nursing frequency of your little one.

(Another thing to bear in mind may be its sedative effect if you are co-sleeping, for example.)

*Hugs* I hope you are able to get the relief that you need, whether from this drug or another one.

Thank you for that recommendation!!  That was awesome!  I just called them and they answered most of my questions and those that she could not answer she left in a message for Dr. Hale himself.  I should hear back this afternoon!
