Need outdoor shoes for soon-to-be walker

Alright I've just been avoiding the whole shoe issue for the last 10 months so I am totally clueless.

DS is cruising and starting to be able to stand up without having anything to pull up on.  I know barefoot is best as they learn to walk, but his daycare takes all the kids outside as often as possible (which I LOVE) so he needs some shoes for outside.  Suggestions?  I don't even know where to start.

My guy does well in Robeez

We like Robeez too. Unless the kid is stepping on broken glass or really sharp rocks, it will still protect their feet even though it's just leather.

Unfortunately, my LO's ankles are so chunky the robeez fit a little tight in the ankle even though they're fine in the foot, so I might look at getting a pair of these:

Robeez are kind of pricey - we got some generic ones, I think from Target.  There are some on etsy.com - look for "leather crib shoes".  

I also like See Kai Run.

Yeah, go with a soft soled shoe like the Robeez. And don't buy "real" shoes until your baby can walk really well. I expect my ds to start walking this summer, but I'm going to wait until fall when it cools off to get "real" shoes. Until then he's barefoot or soft soles.

You can get roobeez used at a consignment store...maybe on diaperswappers too?

If you are crafty, you can snip the elastic and thread in (using a small safety pin) a new piece of longer elastic. Not hard to do and it will make them fit better.

Also, IME the knock-off no-name brand Robeez are also good enough. We have had both and I didn't really notice much difference, except the price!

I'm very thankful that I received several pairs of hand-me-down Robeez so I didn't even know how crazily expensive they are until I googled them to post the link!

DS just starting walking. He has chubby little feet and I found that Bobux leather shoes fit him well. They're a leather soft sole very similar to robeez but the ankle elastic is a bit gentler. I bought mine online.

The target brand "Robeez" are actually made by Bobux. However, I found that the leather used in the originals is much softer, and the fit a bit more generous.

We also have a super cute pair of See Kai Run shoes with a flexible rubber sole for when he needs to look smart. They have Velcro so they're easy to put on one handed.

My son had super chubby feet and Stride Rites in the wide sizes worked very well for him once we needed real walking shoes. They were not too much $$ at the outlet.
