Just curious how common different length luteal phases are.  I know there are some things that affect this like medications and supplements, but on average, how many days is your LP?

Wow... one 16 days or more vote!  If you're following this thread, can you tell me if it's 16 days or more than 16 days?  I hadn't yet met/read about anyone that had an LP that long so I'm just curious!  Thanks!  smile.gif

Hi Jamie - that was my vote Sheepish.gif While charting and TTC my DS for 11months my LP was ALWAYS long (16 days and a few times 17!). Which is good I suppose, giving that eggie plenty of time to implant. But, made me think I was pregnant EVERY cycle! I haven't met anyone with an LP as long as mine either...14-15days max. Now this time around TTC#2 I'm struggling to even ovulate right now. We've been TTC for 5mo and I've managed to O 2 times. My first LP was 16 days and the second was only 13. It has NEVER been that short so that was kind of weird...

Wow!  That must be an excruciating  "2ww" for you!   I wonder what tends to cause super long LP's since we know what tends to cause short ones...?

Sorry you've been having trouble ttc #2... how old is your ds?

I think my body is just really slow with the hormones! I have no idea what causes it though...but I haven't found anything saying it's a bad thing...I'm thankful at least I don't have an LP that too short! Yup, more like a 3ww for me! I am not an early tester!

My DS is 19 months. So I'm trying not to worry too much. I think I may have O'd this week so wish me luck!

Another vote for 16+!!  Wow!  And for now it looks like the classic 14 day LP is winning!

Now 13 days is winning!

My average LP is about 12 days although its been as short as 10, and as long as 16. I do wish it was longer, so that my little eggs would have time to implant. I've been researching and it looks like I am going to start on a B6 supplement very soon.

I voted 12 days, because that's what FF gives me as an average, but it occasionally goes only 10 days.  Factors that play in for me are stress and poor nutrition (both shorten my LP).

justKate, my LP is like that as well, but the opposite.  My average is 10 days with the occasional 11 or 12 thrown in.   I think it's interesting that 10 days is actually the second most common length.  I always thought I was a bit odd.  shy.gif

11 days so far for me postpartum, we'll see if it lengthens a bit over time.

Mine was 11 days before DD1 was born, I think it was 11- 12 days (I only had 1 cycle between DDs) and now still waiting for AF to return after DD2's birth.

It took us almost 3 years to get pregnant and I think it was because I was assuming my LP was 1/2 of my cycle and it was not.

Mine is 10 days long now, but I've no idea what it was when I conceived my kids. My cycles have become much shorter (23 days, 8 days of bleeding) since returning after dd, and this includes a woeful LP. Trying to boost it with B6 right now, in fact. Who woulda thought 10 days would be so common?!

13 days for me w/average 28 day cycle

I know right?  It's the majority now!  Crazy!  Granted I'm not exactly getting a random sampling of the population.

I'm one of those wacky 16 day folks, my cycles tend to be pretty long (average of 34 days), but then again I only have a few months worth of charting information, so I think I need more data before I can confidently call myself a 16. rainbow1284.gif

12 days on average for the past 5-6 years now.

I have a 12 day lutuel phase.  No matter the length of my cycle, my LP has been 12 days.  I started taking a vitamin B complex this cycle so I will wait and see if my LP changes at all.

8 days for me. :(

I'm doing everything I am able to lengthen it!
