So, what do you think? I am having a hard time understanding what makes this worse than all the other stuff they've done. It's just some yuppie accessory for formula feeding and I find it hard to believe anyone would be stupid enough to waste their money on it.

I'm speechless.

Wow. And I though launching a "premium newborn" formula was horrible but this...

It's a joke, right? Please - someone tell me this is a fake, a joke, some sort of publicity stunt or attention grab. Surely this can't be serious?

Wow.  Thats umm.....such a waste of money!  Even if you don't want to BF, why spend the money?

Well, I can't say I'm surprised.  This seems like a "great" shower gift.  Now someone can buy the travel system and another can buy the formula machine.

If I had ever used formula, would I have been a buyer? hide.gif

I love the article you linked, annettemarie.

We recently were given a Keurig coffee maker as a gift - its convenience its amazing...but buying those little pods of coffee is costly!  Its also time consuming....  I think thats the worst part of it - Once you have the machine, you have to keep buying the little 'pods' of formula - which are twice as expensive as regular formula.    Im envisioning families running out of teh pods, not being able to afford them and then improperly preparing formula - Nestle has some seriously evil geniuses in their marketing department.....

Sigh. Thanks for posting. I would have preferred it to be a joke. And as for "the first comprehensive nutrition system for babies", well, I think my little guy just had a morning snack from the REAL first comprehensive nutrition system for babies!

It's a damn good idea, if you ignore the ethical issues involved. Targeted at the upper middle class and wealthy I imagine.

I know, right? Personally, it seems like anyone who would buy that has more money than brains, Evil genius, indeed.

Off topic but you don't have to buy the coffee pods.  You can use regular coffee. Some brands come with the filter but I think Keurig you have buy separately. My (single) friend has one and she thinks it actually saves her money since she usually just makes one cup at a time for herself and doesn't need to make even a small pot.

This is just funny. Or sad. Or sad and funny simultaneously. I'm not sure. I guess they're trying to eliminate the "breastfeeding is more convenient" and "I'm too lazy to make a bottle" arguments?

Nestle probably timed the release of this new appliance to cover up the fact that likely would be in the news at this time for violating the code on marketing artifical milk over the years:

(Reuters) - The world's leading baby milk companies still flout a global code on marketing breast milk substitute, a campaign group said on Thursday, the eve of the 30th anniversary of its adoption.

Nestle and Danone, respectively the number one and number two baby milk distributors, were the worst offenders, the International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN) said in its latest biennial report.

You can buy the reusable strainer for about $20.  Use your 20% Bed, Bath, and Beyond coupon!

Thanks guys!  Yes - about a month ago i discovered that little gem - (i ordered it on Amazon though!)
and yes - its a $$ saver since my DH drinks regular and i drink decaf - prior to that discovery i would just cringe at the wastefulness - yet the sinful convenience - of that machine!

i think its the many many ways Nestle attempts to convince the masses that formula is FAR  AND AWAY easier and more convenient than breastfeeding that i find so upsetting....
