Moving to Appleton, WI in August 2011

I am moving to Appleton this summer with my husband and son.  I'm looking for other moms to meet in Appleton WI- I tried the API group but it seems it "cant be found" on meetup, and holistic moms only has a green bay group I can find...

I have an 11 mo son.  I'm especially looking for other moms that have similar aged children.  We're moving from the twin cities where I was a member of the Attachment Parenting group as well as Holistic Moms Network (tho the chapter was defunct most of this year).  We went to Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) where I met most of my mom friends.

I'd really like to connect with other breastfeeding, babywearing, ECing, Cloth diapering, natural/organic food/personal products types... I'm feeling really anxious about the move- I have such great support here in the twin cities and really want to make sure I make some friends quickly when we get to Appleton.

I'd love to know what groups and opportunities are out there.

Thanks!

Jen

I moved to MN from Appleton. I love Appleton! The LLL group is very lively and you will meet lots of women that way!! There is one in Appleton that meets at the birth center in the evenings and there is a group that meets down in Neenah (6 miles away) that is a daytime meeting in an attachment parenting sort of store. Seriously, get linked up with La Leche League and you will be set :)

Oh, and take me with! I moved here about 2 years ago and I like it here just fine, but I have such a soft spot in my heart for Appleton.... it was a fantastic place to call home. We lived in the Appleton area for about 8-9 years. There is a children's museum downtown, great parks, lots of events, nice shopping, a fantastic Thai place, wonderful YMCA facilities, and just so much to offer!!!

Erika's info is top notch.

I moved from the Twin Cities to Appleton almost ten years ago.  I think they are pretty similar culturally and seem to have about the "crunchiness"   You do lose some cosmoplitan feel and lots of traffic. The bulk of people in Appleton are from Appleton and already seem to have lots of friends and family around which can make forming friendships a bit more challenging. Good luck

hi

I live near Appleton and had my son at Birthwise birth center.  On Facebook look up Fox Valley Babywearers and you will find a great group of people!  They meet every month just to hang out and are definitely AP-minded people.  I also agree that LLL is great there!

Good luck with your move, I used to live in the Twin Cities and loved it!
