Wipes Solution

Hi mamas,

I'm finally ready to switch over to cloth wipes and am hoping someone has a good recommendation for a solution?

I looked around online and there are so many recipes, formulas and solutions dizzy.gif... so I thought I'd ask the real experts!

DD is almost 2, and doesn't seem to have much skin sensitivities, though right now we're battling a small rash as a result of amonia in our pocket dipes, but that should be gone after our wash today and a couple days in fitteds.

So what's your best solution for cloth wipes?  Thanks.

I just use plain water in a spray bottle I had hanging around the house (I keep them dry and squirt a wipe before I change her).  I started this way and figured if needed I'd go to a more complicated solution but it's worked just fine so far.

Here's my favorite recipe:

3 cups water

1 TBSP baby soap ( I use Dr. Bronners lavender)

1 TBSP baby oil (I use a lavender scented)

4 drops tea tree oil

8 drops lavender essential oil

SHAKE :- )

I store my mix in an old pedialyte container and funnel it into a peri bottle to spray on the cloth wipes.  I keep probably 6-7 wipes wet so I don't have to do it right at the time of a change.  Makes it quicker and much easier for me!

I know this sounds like a lot, but once you get the hang of it, all of the steps go quick.

I do not wash my wipes with my diapers because of the oils.  I have a small thirsties wet bag hanging on the changing table and I toss them in there.  Once I use up most of my supply, I throw it in the wash on a rinse only cycle and then wash with a regular load of clothes!

That's it!

I also use a peri-bottle! i almost bought a bottle but then remembered i had the free one!

also thats a good point with the oils in the solution and the cloth diapers, I have just been putting mine in with the diapers but im about ready to strip mine. I mix directly into the peri-bottle: a few drops of kissaloves diaper lotion potion, a splash of witch hazel and filtered water. i spray each wipe before i use it.

I would store the wipes dry and wet with warm water as needed. I wouldn't use any solution for pee diaper changes but for poop diaper changes I would use the Thirsties Booty Luster or CJ's Carcass Cleaner both are natural and gentle. :)
