I recently started taking some magnesium citrate (natural calm) dissolved in water, to help with magnesium deficiency. Within an hour I get very thirsty, feel very dehydrated, so I drink a lot of water for a few hours, my urine for the next few hours is quite yellow. I can't find anything on this when I search the web - it is not making me have diahhrea so that's not it. I'm thinking, it's triggering something in me to produce lots of yellow stuff (in urine) which needs to be put out of my body hence the thirst. Is it some detox route? Other than that it does seem to help with the magnesium deficiency but I've not taken a lot due to the dehydration.

For background, I'm 6 months pregnant. I had lots of muscle cramps and chocolate cravings were really really strong so I started reading more and realised I was deficient in Bs and magnesium among other things. I normally do get deficient but it was worse with pregnancy, and I never knew what to do about it before. I've been reading and changing my diet and supplementing. I can change to another supplement but I am also interested if it's some detox thing then maybe it's actually good for me? It doesn't seem to be a common reaction as I can find nothing on it.

Thank you,

Cathy
