Where to buy tiny toddler underwear?

Ladies,

I'm hoping someone has some advice for me--I am ready for my son to potty train. I've ordered my Imse Vimse trainers, but I am having trouble locating the other clothing I'm going to need for DS--underwear. I've looked at both Babies R Us and Walmart and both of their smallest size of underwear starts at 27-34 lbs. DS is 22 lbs. I'm fairly certain anything designed to fit a bottom of a boy 12 lbs bigger than him will fall off. Where can I find underwear that starts at a lower size? I did a quick Amazon search and saw some Carters "training pants"--those old fashioned training underwear with extra thickness in the wetzone--that started at 18M. That would probably work size-wise, but I was really wanting regular "big boy" undies for when we get there. Anyone else have this problem? TIA

I know Hanes and Old Navy sell xs boys underwear online only.

My DS is the same size as yours and I found the undies run small and the 2T actually fit him (even though actual pants in that size would fall right off him even with a big cloth diaper!) I got a few packs of Gerber cotton training pants (2T) from TJ Maxx -- on clearance for $2 for 3, otherwise I would've done non-training undies! -- and they fit him quite comfortably. Doesn't make sense but anyway... you can always get them to try & save them 'til next year if they end up not fitting him yet.

I also saw some on Etsy that you can have custom-made...

Thanks, mamas. I checked the Hanes, Old Navy, and Gap sites, and all they have are the same 2/3T that the big box stores seem to carry. The XS undies are for boys 6+. I think I'll just try what you suggest, Crunchy_Mommy and get some of the 2Ts and see what happens and track down some of the old-fashioned training undies too. I could probably put a stitch in the elastic of the toddler undies if I had too, I guess...

DD wore the same six pair of XS Hanna Anderssen Unders from about 19 months (19 lbs) up until 2.5 (27 lbs).  I chose the extra padded underwear, not for accidents, but because they seemed softer.  She did not know any difference.  She wore them every day.  The same six pair.  For almost a year and a half.  They only recently have begun to break down around the elastic waistband.  I bought another six pair of the plain white thin Hanna unders a couple of months ago.  Again, XS.  But, she still wears the original six as well.

I agree that toddler underwear runs small.  My LO wears a 4T pant, but can't fit into toddler underwear at all anymore.

I bought my DS tiny underwear at target that fit him when he was around the same weight, but he has always been more round than tall
