Eczema, and Elimination Diet- Help!

I am hoping someone has some advice for me- baby has severe weeping eczema on his cheeks primarily.  We've seen improvement on his body in avoiding chemicals, soaps, etc.  I am thinking I've got to find out if a dietary change will help him, because it's very horrible to watch him suffer at all.

I don't eat any dairy ever, I only occasionally eat chicken (rare) and only occasionally eat wheat.  The only soy I eat is soy sauce.  I eat a lot of raw fruits, some greens, and a lot of brown rice.  I eat raw dates and almond butter, to make sure I am getting enough calories.

I've got to make sure I eat enough to EBF but what can I eat for a period of time that will help me determine triggers?  Does anyone have experience with this, and successfully helped their LO overcome eczema?  Please help!  I want to continue to nurse as long as possible, so weaning is not an option right now.

How old is your baby?

When you say you eat no dairy, do you not drink milk and eat cheese, etc, or do you purposefully avoid all dairy containing products? (Same goes for soy?) I ask because a lot of pre-made food (from

bread to almond milk) contains soy and milk protein, and they are two of the 'biggies'.

I hope you can figure it out soon. Good luck!

I don't know if this is helpful or discouraging, but my second child had awful weeping eczema on his head as an infant.  I tried a complete elimination diet; nothing helped.  It was definitely worst in the winter, that was the only correlation we could find.

He did completely outgrow it by the time he was over a year old, and doesn't seem to have any allergies or food sensitivities now at almost three. shrug.gif

No, I don't eat any dairy at all, neither soy.  I only eat one ingredient foods.  ; )

That's awesome - if you did want to change foods up a bit it would be easy to see results. If I were you I post over in the allergy forum asking Mamas to check out your thread here and post with ideas. If you list your whole diet that may help with suggestions.

Hope you get some good ideas!
