I need to buy a serger

Hi everyone! I need to buy a serger, but I really have no idea what the difference between alll the different brands are. I just need a basic serger (basically to serge diaper wipes and family cloth). Ive seen a few on ebay between $50-$75. Do you think those would do the job, or is there something I need to know about making my purchase?

I know a ton of people who have purchased the brother 1034 for under $250 which is a really great price for a serger. They've all been really happy with this serger and apparently it's very easy to thread which always a big plus.

You might check patternreview.com too for recommendation

Check Craigslist.  I got my most recent machine for $25 and it works perfectly.

This.

I had a much more expensive serger that I got on craigslist (used once), and it worked fine for a short time, then quit working (tension issues), and couldn't really be fixed all the way.   I LOVE my brother one, and its not all that expensive.  I  got it for $219 on amazon.com, free shipping.    I sell the stuff I make, and it works great for a professional look

I also have the brother 1034 and love it.  Super easy to thread.  I got mine on amazon for about $200 and it's been worth every penny!

Count me in! I also have the Brother 1034 and it's a dream. Here it is on Amazon:

It's easy to thread, easy to set up for different fabrics and I've used it a ton since I got it for Christmas last year and I haven't had a single problem with it!

I would totally check it out. It's new, it's solid and it works great.
