How can I make my sick toddler feel better (when he's weaned!?)

This is my first time dealing with illness as a not-really-nursing mama.  I'm currently pregnant, and my 2 year old son is down to one, maybe two nursing sessions per day.  Some days he doesn't nurse at all.  And I'm a little thrown...  Normally to make him feel better, I would just nurse him round the clock.  Any tricks to making him feel better?  I gave him extra D drops, made sure he got his vitamins, gave him some Motrin before bed.  A lot of the things I'd do for myself, like garlic, or GSE, I can't imagine how I'd give it to him.  He seems so miserable, and I feel awful that I don't have a way to comfort him...  Any ideas would be appreciated.  He's barely wanting to eat.  He seems to be getting plenty of fluids, as he doesn't normally get juice, and I've been letting him have it watered down (which he thinks is GREAT).  But really, what do you DO with a sick kiddo when you can't nurse them!?

Put the shower on and sit them in the tub to help with congestion.  Rub their body, especially the chest with almond oil with a tiny drop of pine/eucalyptus/both oil in it.  Freeze the juices you allow into ice lollies to soothe sore throats/high temperatures.  Lots of cuddling and skin-to-skin (which strengthens the immune system for people of all ages) - you can put them on your back in a meitai or ergo with your shirts off to have skin to skin while you get on with things.

Oh mama, that's no fun.  We just went through our first weaned illness.  We did lots of shower time, and babywearing.

It will be over soon!

Those are such great ideas, thank you!  For 2 years illness always just meant lots of time in bed nursing...  This is a whole new ballgame for us greensad.gif
